Winter Park Alumni to present eight awards for chapter, community service

 

WINTER PARK – The Winter Park Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. will honor five members and three local citizens for outstanding fraternity and community service and professional achievements. 

 

The presentations will be made at 6 p.m. March 26 at the Winter Park Farmers Market.  Details on the awards and each honoree, listed below, are available at www.winterparkkappas.com.

 

Member Awards

Recipient and residence

 

Earl T. Tildon Service Award – presented for exceptional service to the chapter during the 2013-14 administrative year.

· Mark Hillery,Kissimmee

· Jeffrey Sloan, Orlando

Polemarch’s Award – awarded by the 2013-14 chapter president to a member whose contributions proved valuable to the president’s administration

· Earl T. Tildon, Clermont

Professional of the Year Award – recognizes outstanding career achievements

· Kevin L. Jackson, Sanford

Michael Kelker Kappa of the Year Award – acknowledges all-around service to the chapter, community and membership

· Erick B. Wicker, Winter Park

 

Citizen Awards

Kappa’s Choice Award – a noncompetitive award that recognizes someone who voluntarily has served a target service constituency of Winter Park Alumni in a uniquely exceptional or nontraditional manner.

·Baxter Mathews, Winter Park

Unsung Hero Award – pays tribute to effective public service and community commitment that may have received little or no widespread recognition.

·Ronnie Moore, Winter Park

Community Service Award – applauds notable contributions that have enhanced a community but, more importantly, the lives of individuals and families residing there.

·Mary R. Daniels, Winter Park

Founded in 1911, Kappa Alpha Psi is a service organization with more than 100,000 members in 600-plus college and alumni chapters worldwide.  Winter Park Alumni has served Central Florida since March 1992, focusing on the youth guidance and development.
